It is not often I have the opportunity to spend eight to ten hours a week for twenty years indoctrinating my clients with ideas that will help them to purchase, build, and then sell a successful business, but this is what is happening with my sons. When they were 20 and 18, I had the privilege of helping my two sons, David and Joseph, start a construction business in November of 2008. We did this just as the economy was falling apart in our country and in Oregon – especially construction related businesses. In 2008, (their first two months) they did $629 worth of business. In 2009, they did $62,821 worth of business, in 2010 they did $117,347 worth of business, and so far in 2011 in just three months they have already done $62,821 worth of business. Their biggest challenge is to now find like-minded men whom they can employ – because they have much more work than they can handle. And this is happening when there are literally thousands of construction workers in Oregon who can find nothing better to do than collect unemployment. One of the ways I have trained my sons is by telling them the stories on this web page (and hundreds of others like them). In many cases my sons have had they opportunity to meet these clients of mine first hand – and see for themselves that the stories are real. In addition to the stories and the example I have tried to give my sons, I have spent many hours indoctrinating them with basic truths that they will need to succeed in their business. Following are the basic truths (with Bible references) that I have been teaching my sons (and learning myself) about WORK. WHY WORK 1. GOD CREATED US TO WORK Genesis 1:27-28, Genesis 2:15, Genesis 2:18 2. TO GLORIFY GOD Matthew 5:16, In 1 Corinthians 10:31, Exodus 20:9 3. To Serve, Support & Encourage Others Matthew 20:26, Ephesians 4.29
